To: The Residents of Riverbay

Perhaps some of us are unaware that Chatham has a windmill dating back to 1797. It is in Chase Park and at the present time it is not operational. A group of citizens have been working with various Town committees and individuals to renovate the windmill, or as some would call it, a gristmill. The project will go before the Town meeting in May and, with their approval, the windmill will be operational within the next year.

The windmill will add a great deal to our tri-centennial in 2012. In the meantime we will need a number of volunteers to assist as docents at the site and perhaps on some committees. We envision that volunteers will only serve as docents a few hours each summer season. If all goes as planned, we will have a trained miller conduct on site demonstrations several times during the summer season.
